for everyone

Well, winter may never end. Although it's warmer today, in the 30's already. But the wind is blowing pretty good so it doesn't feel very nice. Oh and did I mention it's snowing? Today's prediction is for snow, ice and rain. Just means mother nature is determined that I slip and break something before this is all over.

We're due to start kidding in about 4 weeks. We'll still have alot of snow and ice on the ground for sure. I'm guessing that the bigger snow banks (ice now) will not completely melt until we're into June. I might have to push kidding back to May if this keeps up. Or build a heated barn, and you know that's not going to happen....lol

Well, have a great day and remember, there's no where to go but up!

Global warming is here according to AL Gore!! LOL We actually had flurries yesterday, but it is by far too warm to be meaningful. I really don't know how you folks handle it. I get cabin fever from three days of rain......and no I'm not gonna go out and play in it.
Kidding season is over for us. Have had a healthy crop of kids and most does are taking good care of the kids. The fact that I sowed 8 acres of wheat for them to eat on during the winter really helped. My feed bill is herendous though with the cost of feed skyrocketing. Guess I will cut out most of the cattle and send them to the sale barn. They are the biggest losers at 7FA
Looking forward to the NJ Fair. Maybe we'll get up that far this year. My plan would be to drop Gail off at her relatives in PA and come on over to the fair. Hope you can make it too. After all the roads should be clear of snow up there by then. LOLgm

I was trimming hooves, vaccinating etc yesterday. Didn't hardly ever see the sun. Temps said 45 but a wind would come in a it would start snowing. Strangest thing and I mean big flakes.
I am almost ready for this weekends show BUT some of the does I selected a couple of weeks ago now look thin because of nursing kids.
I was surprised yesterday as a yearling I had brought in to get ready for the show was checking every tit on every doe I put onto the stand. She really didn't nurse but looked like she really wanted to.lol
My feed went up 2.00 per 50lbs. I hope I am done buying hay because I was paying triple. Tough, tough times. If we go into another drought ( some say be prepared) it will be very hard to stay in business. I feel I have reasonable prices considering what I offer . I still have doelings for sale at this time that were born in Dec. Usually by now they are all on their way to knew homes. My wethers seemed to have sold well.
I would love to go to the NJ fair and show. Looks like it would be about a 13-14 hour drive. Jan might consider going and we could share the drive but no matter where we leave from it is about the same time.

We were below zero again yesterday morning and a big whopping 8 this morning. We start kidding here soon and I'd like it to get a little warmer, lik ein the 40's maybe? I'm not holding out hope that the ice mountains will melt. But that'll give the new kids something to play on since their toys are buried. I don't know if I'll be able to get to NJ or not. WOuld love to, but have several obsticles. Our daughter just had emergency surgery for an eptopic pregnancy and I'd like to see her ( haven't seen her since the wedding 3 yrs ago) and if I leave, there's no one to tend to the farm and stor (thatI can count on). So I'll have to play it by ear for now. I would onlt be visiting, can't show goats.
